FAQ

What is an eSIM, what does it mean, and how does it work?

An eSIM is a virtual chip that performs the same function as a physical SIM card, but without taking up space or needing to be inserted. As soon as you activate your plan, your device connects directly to the local network of the country you're in, and everything keeps working as usual: your apps, your WhatsApp with the same number as always.

Is my device compatible with a Roamic eSIM?

Roamic's eSIMs work on most eSIM-compatible devices. If you want to be sure, you can check our compatibility list or look up your device's EID number in your phone's settings.

How do I know if my phone is a Chinese model that doesn't support eSIM?

Some phones manufactured specifically for the Chinese market don't support eSIM. You can check this in several ways: by looking at your phone's original box, checking the model number in the system settings, or looking for a physical label on the device itself.

How do I check if my phone is unlocked to use an eSIM?

There are three simple ways to find out. You can try a SIM from another carrier and see if your device recognizes it. Some models also come unlocked from the factory, so it's worth checking. Or simply ask your carrier, who can confirm whether your line is still tied to them.

When should I install my eSIM before traveling abroad?

You can install it the moment you buy it. You have 180 days before it starts activating automatically, so you can set it up days in advance without any problem. We recommend installing it before you travel so everything's ready when you arrive.

When will I receive my eSIM after purchase?

As soon as you complete your purchase, you'll receive an email with everything you need to get it ready instantly, either by scanning a QR code or following the manual steps.

How do I install my Roamic eSIM card on my device?

After completing your purchase, you'll receive a QR code by email. Scan it, and your plan will be ready to use immediately. We also send you a quick guide in case you'd rather follow the steps calmly and at your own pace.

My eSIM's QR code isn't working, what do I do?

If the scan doesn't work, there could be several causes: your device may not be compatible, there may be a carrier restriction, a network connection issue, or some phone setting that's blocking the process.

When and how does my data eSIM activate abroad?

Your eSIM won't use data until you arrive at your destination, so you can install and set it up days in advance without any risk. The best time to activate it is right after landing. Activate your travel line, set it as your primary data line, and turn on data roaming. From there, the plan activates automatically as soon as your phone finds a local network.

Can I keep my phone number, get a new number, receive SMS, or make calls with my Roamic eSIM?

Yes, you can keep your usual phone number without any problem, since your eSIM works alongside your main SIM and you can have both lines active at the same time. Keep in mind that these eSIMs are data-only: they don't include their own number and don't allow you to receive SMS or make calls (including international calls). They're designed solely to keep you connected to the internet during your trip.

Which countries are covered by Roamic eSIM?

We have coverage in more than 190 countries worldwide. Thanks to our extensive network partnerships, the connection stays fast and reliable practically wherever you travel. You can check the full list on our coverage page.

Do eSIMs work at the same speed as a regular SIM?

Yes, the technology used is exactly the same as any local line, so you can move between 4G, LTE, and 5G without any problems. If you notice slower speeds in remote areas or with weak signal, that's due to the coverage of the location, not the eSIM itself.

How do I share data from my eSIM via hotspot?

You just need to enable the hotspot option on your phone and connect your other devices through it. That way, they'll be able to browse using your eSIM's data.

Where can I check my eSIM's data usage?

You can view it at any time from your MyOzu dashboard. You can also check your usage directly from your own device, in your regular SIM manager.

Why does my eSIM show an IP address from another country?

This is quite common, so there's nothing to worry about. It often happens both with international roaming and with VPN connections. The reason is that some of our network partners assign IP addresses from their own servers, which has no direct relation to your actual location at that moment.

How do I top up my eSIM?

Go into the MyOzu app, choose the eSIM you want to top up, and press the "Top up" button. Within a few seconds, your plan will be updated and ready to keep using.

Why don't I see the button to top up my eSIM?

That button only appears if your eSIM is still active, meaning neither used up nor expired. If your plan has already run out or has passed its validity date, you won't be able to top up that same eSIM.

Can I switch to a different eSIM plan?

For now, changing plans means canceling the current one and choosing a new one. But don't worry, you just need to contact us and we'll handle the refund without any hassle.

My eSIM isn't working, why is this happening and what can I do?

First check that it hasn't expired. Then confirm that you've actually arrived at your destination and that the eSIM is set up for the right location. Finally, check in your settings that data roaming is turned on.

What is MyOzu and what is it used for?

It's our web platform for managing all your orders quickly and easily. From there you can check the status of your eSIM, top it up, and discover our other offers.

What kind of customer support does Roamic offer?

Our team is available 24 hours a day, every day, via live chat or email. The goal is simple: to resolve any question or issue as quickly as possible.

I entered my personal information incorrectly when buying my eSIM, what do I do?

No problem! Your eSIM isn't linked to your personal information, so you can install it on your own device or on a different one without any inconvenience. You can even use it for a family member. If you can't access the eSIM, you can always contact us and we'll be happy to help.

Why does the page take me to Ozu instead of Roamic?

We've updated our system to make it easier for you to access your eSIM; we've just done a small redesign of the page, so there's no need to worry.

Why does Android show that I only have 2 GB even though I bought a different plan?

It's a visual limiter that these devices come with by default, but you can easily edit it. Just follow the path "Settings > Connections > Data usage" and, under "Warning and data limit," turn off the "Set data limit" option.

What's the difference between an eSIM and a physical SIM?

The main difference is that the eSIM is a virtual chip built into your device, while the physical SIM is a card you have to insert and remove manually. Functionally they do the same thing: they connect you to a mobile network. The eSIM has the advantage that you can install it instantly, without waiting for a physical shipment, and you can have it active alongside your main SIM without taking up the same slot.

Can I transfer my eSIM to another phone?

Generally, an eSIM stays tied to the device it's installed on, so it can't be moved directly from one phone to another the way you would with a physical card. If you need to use your plan on a different device, contact us and we'll help you manage it.

Can I delete my eSIM? What happens if I delete it?

Yes, you can delete it from your phone's settings once you no longer need it. Keep in mind that if your plan was still active or had data available, deleting it will make you lose access to that data line, so we recommend using it up completely before deleting it.

What are the advantages of using an eSIM, and what should I keep in mind before getting one?

Among the advantages are immediate installation without waiting for a shipment, the ability to keep your main SIM active at the same time, and quickly switching between local networks when you travel. As something to keep in mind, not all devices are eSIM-compatible, and in Roamic's case, since these are data-only plans, they don't include their own number or calls.

Do Roamic's eSIM plans include unlimited data?

Yes, we offer plans with unlimited data. Keep in mind that these plans are subject to a fair use policy (FUP), designed to keep the network stable and of good quality for all our users. This means that once a certain daily consumption volume is exceeded, browsing speed may be reduced, but you'll remain connected without interruption at all times.
